This role focuses on managing and advising on complex patent disputes, infringement matters, and intellectual property litigation strategy. You'll work closely with in-house legal teams to defend valuable patent portfolios, respond to infringement claims, and provide strategic guidance throughout all stages of patent disputes.</p> <h3><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></h3> <ul> <li data-section-id="182yw8q" data-start="1016" data-end="1115">Advise clients on domestic and international patent infringement matters and litigation strategy.</li> <li data-section-id="19s4qyz" data-start="1116" data-end="1216">Manage and respond to patent infringement claims, cease-and-desist letters, and licensing demands.</li> <li data-section-id="ssuplh" data-start="1217" data-end="1324">Defend clients against assertions by non-practicing entities (NPEs) and other patent enforcement actions.</li> <li data-section-id="1vplf0o" data-start="1325" data-end="1437">Partner with outside counsel to develop litigation strategy, oversee case management, and control legal spend.</li> <li data-section-id="1aoa6qh" data-start="1438" data-end="1539">Conduct infringement, validity, and risk assessments to support business and legal decision-making.</li> <li data-section-id="r8rune" data-start="1540" data-end="1674">Counsel business stakeholders on intellectual property risks associated with new products, technologies, and commercial initiatives.</li> <li data-section-id="1gp3eco" data-start="1675" data-end="1812">Support dispute resolution efforts, including settlement negotiations, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution where appropriate.</li> <li data-section-id="epqg2v" data-start="1813" data-end="1934">Collaborate with engineering, product, R&D, and executive teams to develop practical, business-focused legal solutions.</li> <li data-section-id="wdhj0e" data-start="1935" data-end="2040">Monitor developments in patent law and advise clients on evolving litigation risks and industry trends.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Qualifications:</strong></h3> <ul> <li data-section-id="1f8mcb" data-start="2062" data-end="2151"><strong data-start="2064" data-end="2079">4–10+ years</strong> of experience in patent litigation or intellectual property litigation.</li> <li data-section-id="1alwgkp" data-start="2152" data-end="2284">Experience handling patent infringement disputes in federal courts, before the ITC, or in other domestic and international forums.</li> <li data-section-id="tek6ek" data-start="2285" data-end="2408">Strong experience responding to patent assertion entities (NPEs), cease-and-desist letters, and infringement allegations.</li> <li data-section-id="rexa1x" data-start="2409" data-end="2478">Experience managing outside counsel and complex litigation matters.</li> <li data-section-id="icvr4w" data-start="2479" data-end="2541">Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.</li> <li data-section-id="z48h59" data-start="2542" data-end="2604">Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Preferred Skills:</strong></h3> <ul> <li data-section-id="1dnod43" data-start="2628" data-end="2734">Experience supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, industrial, or technology companies.</li> <li data-section-id="x9rur9" data-start="2735" data-end="2839">Familiarity with cross-border or global patent litigation and international IP enforcement strategies.</li> <li data-section-id="1dkucm7" data-start="2840" data-end="2939">Experience evaluating patent portfolios and advising on litigation risk and licensing strategies.</li> <li data-section-id="oyrvhq" data-start="2940" data-end="3040">Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced in-house environment.</li> <li data-section-id="1a7eae8" data-start="3041" data-end="3120">Experience supporting part-time or project-based legal engagements is a plus.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Compensation:</strong></h3> <p>The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year.<strong> </strong>Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
