Now we’re evolving again by building the definitive platform for quote to cash and helping companies monetize their products and services with an adaptable, AI-ready foundation.</p> <p> </p> <h3><strong>The Opportunity</strong></h3> <p>The core purpose of this role is to contribute to the design, development, and evolution of Zuora's Commerce Catalog platform, a foundational component of Zuora's enterprise monetization ecosystem. The platform enables businesses to manage complex product offerings, streamline commerce operations, and support evolving business models at scale.<br><br>This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems involving distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, high-throughput APIs, and large-scale data processing. You will help build highly scalable, reliable, and performant services that power critical business operations across Zuora's ecosystem.<br><br>You will also have the opportunity to shape the future of catalog management through AI-driven innovation, building intelligent capabilities that simplify complex workflows, automate catalog operations, and transform how businesses manage and optimize their product offerings.<br><br>As part of the team, you will influence architectural decisions, explore emerging technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, innovative solutions that drive customer success and business growth.<br><br>What you’ll do:</p> <ul> <li>Contribute and lead on the development and scaling of a high throughput, high availability, public-facing multi-tenanted application</li> <li>Lead the design and implementation of innovative solutions for complex end-user-facing and backend challenges, directly impacting user engagement and business growth</li> <li>Develop and maintain secure, performant, and simple-to-integrate APIs for internal, B2B, and public consumers</li> <li>Work closely with product management to translate business requirements into technical specifications, and with operations to ensure robust, scalable, and maintainable systems</li> <li>Experience a culture of continuous learning, with opportunities for mentorship, knowledge sharing, and professional development</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Location & Work Arrangements</strong></p> <p>This role is based in our <strong>Foster City, CA office</strong> and follows a <strong>hybrid work model</strong>. Team members are expected to work onsite <strong>three days per week</strong> to foster collaboration, innovation, and team connectivity.</p> <p>This is <strong>not a fully remote position</strong>.</p> <p> </p> <h3><strong>About You</strong></h3> <p>You bring enthusiasm for using AI tooling to aid development, coupled with a healthy disdain for AI slop. You are passionate about specification-driven and documentation-driven development, and you are adaptable, with a willingness to pick up new technologies and tools as necessary.</p> <p>Your experience and outlook:</p> <ul> <li>7+ years experience in development roles</li> <li>Strong proficiency in recent versions of Java (JDK 21 or newer) and/or Kotlin</li> <li>Proficiency in Javascript/Typescript and the wider Javascript ecosystem; ideally some exposure to React</li> <li>A strong commitment to developing high-quality, testable code, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, while actively considering operational concerns such as observability, logging, and alerting throughout the development lifecycle</li> <li>Experience designing quality APIs such as REST, gRPC, GraphQL, and OpenAPI, and integrating with 3rd party APIs</li> <li>Solid understanding of web technologies including HTTP and DNS, and comfort working in Browser Developer Tools</li> <li>API security knowledge across OAuth2, SAML, JWT, and related standards</li> <li>Strong grounding in software engineering best practices including git, TDD, OOP principles, SOLID, and design patterns</li> <li>Experience deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting microservices in a production environment at scale</li> </ul> <p>Bonus points for:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with reverse proxies such as HAProxy, Envoy, or nginx; or API gateways such as Kong</li> <li>Terraform and AWS experience</li> <li>Experience with modern frontend frameworks beyond React, especially Svelte as we explore its potential</li> <li>Experience with simulated load tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or wrk2, and JVM profiling to identify and fix performance bottlenecks</li> <li>Hands-on experience with instrumentation and analysis of production metrics using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB, or the ELK stack to identify performance bottlenecks and ensure system health</li> </ul> <h2><strong> </strong></h2> <h3><strong>About the Team</strong></h3> <p>You will join a team that helps build and evolve Zephr, a core part of Zuora’s subscription experience platform.
