Employees thrive at Langan, a firm that fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment for all; prioritizes wellbeing, health, and safety; encourages volunteerism and philanthropy; offers workplace flexibility, along with carbon-neutral office spaces; and empowers individuals to contribute their skills and knowledge to make impactful contributions.</span></p> <p> </p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Job Summary</span></h2> <p><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Langan is seeking a <strong>Staff Biologist </strong>to join its collaborative team in <strong>Calgary, AB.  </strong>This individual will be<strong> r</strong>esponsible for performing duties as field representative, including wetland delineations, rare plant surveys, wildlife surveys, restoration monitoring, collecting field data and samples, monitoring construction sites, and compiling data and preparing reports.</span></p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Job Responsibilities</span></h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Conduct plant and wildlife surveys for habitat assessments, special-status species, and other project requirements.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Conduct wetland delineations, jurisdictional determinations, and other aquatic resource surveys.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Provide biological monitoring and oversight for construction projects, restoration implementation, and restoration maintenance.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Develop environmental permitting packages and prepare technical reports.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Perform stormwater monitoring and reporting.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Coordinate staff, subcontractors, and project schedules.</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Maintain understanding of regulatory requirements and health and safety practices.</span></li> </ul> <p> </p> <h2><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Qualifications</span></h2> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor's degree in biology, wildlife, botany, ecology, environmental science, or related field;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">2+ years of biological work experience with field experience required;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Working knowledge of Alberta and British Columbia environmental legislations, regulatory processes, and guidelines, including the Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act<strong> </strong>(EPEA), Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) requirements, Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) directives and OneStop system, BC Ministry of Environment and Parks, and BC Energy Regulators (BCER);</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Knowledge of protected species and permitting requirements;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience using GPS units and field data collection tools;</span></li> <li style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experience conducting Detailed Site Assessments (DSA) and Reclamation Application Certification
