Company Overview

Metrea delivers effects-as-a-service to national security partners across five domains and more than a dozen mission areas. These include airborne ISR, electronic warfare, secure communications, aerial refueling, special air missions, aerial firefighting, and advanced simulation. We own the whole stack: designing, building, and operating turnkey capabilities that give our partners decisive, asymmetric advantage against rapidly evolving threats.

Our operating model is built around three interlocking pillars. The Support Groups provide a global shared-service – spanning people, finance, platform, operations, legal, and engagement. This frees up our Core Groups, who develop and own mission capabilities end-to-end, to focus entirely on delivery. The Market Groups apply a regional lens, ensuring that our agile and adaptable capabilities remain aligned to the wicked problems that matter most to our partners across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.

At the heart of our model is a simple but powerful idea: be a true partner with skin in the game. Our partners need effects, not just equipment. By owning the full stack – from the lab to the field – we are able to drive a continuous cycle of innovation that keeps our partners ahead. It's a fast-moving, intellectually demanding environment where talented people are given real responsibility, work on problems that matter, and contribute to an enterprise that is growing quickly and deliberately.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, with facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, as well as Continental Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Group Overview

Metrea Air Mobility (AIRMOB) operates a fleet of KC-135 aircraft, offering an air-to-air refueling service that seamlessly, safely, and professionally integrates into military aviation training and operations.

Position Summary

The Head of Maintenance reports directly to the Head of Tanker Maintenance and Airworthiness and ensures the safe, compliant and efficient running of the line maintenance operations around the globe, organic and contracted heavy maintenance activities, and maintenance control operations.

What You'll Do

Oversees all maintenance operations to ensure they are conducted in accordance with the applicable regulations and the company procedures

Ensures that all maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations are performed in compliance with applicable regulations and standards

Supervises and directs line maintenance manager, heavy maintenance manager, and manager of maintenance control personnel, and the Planning Manager, ensuring they are properly trained and qualified for their roles

Implements and maintains the tanker maintenance program tasks to ensure the airworthiness of all articles maintained

What You Bring

Must hold an FAA mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) ratings or be an EASA Part 66 licensed engineer

Have at least 10 years of experience in comparable role (Director of Maintenance, or equivalent) in FAA Part 121 or Part 135 air carrier organization, maintaining aircraft of the same category and class of aircraft as AIRMOB flies; or

Have at least 6 years of experience as head of operations in an FAA certificated MRO (Part 145) airframe heavy maintenance provider, including at least 2 years in the capacity of approving aircraft for return to service, along with experience above in Part 121 or Part 135 of fewer than 6 years

Must be able to lead subordinate managers and coordinate and prioritize very heavy workload

Must maintain a high level of confidentiality

Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on collaboration

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Aviation Management, Education, Business Administration)

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Must hold an FAA mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) ratings or be a EASA Part 66 licensed engineer

Valid Driver’s License

Current US Passport

Benefits

Comprehensive medical plan options

HSA/FSA accounts

Dental and vision coverage

6% employer 401(k) match

Fully paid parental leave for all new parents

Generous PTO

Life and disability insurance

Long-term and Short-term disability coverage

AD&D Coverage

Pet Insurance

Employee Assistance Program

Subsided gym membership / plans through Wellhub

Work Authorization / Security Clearance

The employee must be a US citizen

The employee must be able t
