About the Role Join the platform team at an early-stage AI manufacturing supply chain startup. You will build backend services, data pipelines, and AI-powered systems that support procurement and supply chain operations, helping ensure goods move reliably through complex manufacturing workflows. What You'll Do • Design and scale backend services with Next.js API routes, background jobs, and serverless functions for high-throughput order processing. • Build and productionize LLM-based agents, AI/ML infrastructure, and RAG patterns for quote analysis and supplier recommendations. • Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and complex queries for materials, quotes, orders, and supplier relationships. • Build event-driven pipelines for order state management, notifications, and synchronization across systems. • Implement caching, rate limiting, and reliability strategies for external API integrations. • Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability practices, and participate in backend incident response. What We're Looking For • At least 5 years of production experience building backend services, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure. • Hands-on experience with AI development, including NLP/ML pipelines for extracting information from unstructured documents using OCR or similar techniques. • Recent hands-on experience with Next.js, TypeScript, agentic frameworks, and PostgreSQL or a comparable relational database. • Experience designing transactional systems with ACID guarantees, idempotent APIs, and reliable event-driven processing. • Experience integrating with ERP systems and third-party APIs, including legacy or poorly documented interfaces. • Background in manufacturing supply chain, procurement, or logistics, and experience working on a startup or similarly small team. • Strong computer science fundamentals and experience with production monitoring, incident response, caching, and rate limiting. Compensation & Benefits The base salary range is $160,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available. Location Remote role, with San Francisco, California as the primary location.
