Full-Stack Software Engineer (Top Secret clearance)

<p><strong>Top Secret Full Stack Engineer</strong></p> <p>STR is seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer to design and deliver high-impact web applications for defense and intelligence missions. The successful candidate will build AI- and data-centric applications that help users analyze information, make decisions, and work effectively with advanced software systems. These are not corporate websites or marketing pages. They are mission-focused applications built for real operational and analytical use. We are seeking candidates ranging from experienced developers to technical leads; this is not an entry-level role.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>The Role:</strong><br><br>Develop on a new development effort through stages of design, implementation, and demonstration. This role will be hybrid with a target of 2 days in either our Woburn, MA or Arlington, VA office. Specific responsibilities include:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Front-End and User Experience <ul> <li>Build modern, responsive, and reusable web applications using React and related front-end technologies.</li> <li>Translate wireframes, prototypes, and design direction into production-ready interfaces with strong attention to usability and detail.</li> <li>Contribute to early-stage interface thinking, workflow definition, and design iteration in close collaboration with designers and stakeholders.</li> <li>Develop efficient, high-performance components for data visualization and user interaction, including large data sets and complex mission workflows.</li> <li>Deliver intuitive, user-centric and data-centric interfaces for mission-focused applications.</li> <li>Partner closely with designers, engineers, program leads, and end users to refine workflows, requirements, and interaction patterns.</li> <li>Help shape reusable component libraries, patterns, and front-end foundations that can be used across programs.</li> <li>Communicate with the project team, users, and clients to develop and document requirements.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Back-End and Integration <ul> <li>Design and implement APIs, application state, and supporting back-end services needed for user-facing features.</li> <li>Design the interface layer to the rest of the back end, including appropriate GraphQL solutions.</li> <li>Contribute to service and back-end architecture decisions for application workflows, data access, and system integration.</li> <li>Design service contracts, data flows, and backend integration patterns.</li> <li>Work across the full request/response path from user interaction through service logic and data access.</li> <li>Integrate front-end applications with supporting services and application back ends.</li> <li>Support containerized application design and deployment where appropriate.</li> <li>Help design, integrate, and implement AI-enabled user interfaces and workflows that allow users to interact effectively with advanced analytics, automation, and decision-support capabilities.</li> <li>Contribute to data visualization, interactive workflows, and complex interface behavior for mission-focused applications.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Delivery and Teaming <ul> <li>Improve application performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and maintainability.</li> <li>Optimize applications for speed and responsiveness across a variety of devices and browsers.</li> <li>Support demonstrations, user feedback cycles, iteration, and transition from prototype to deployed capability.</li> <li>Contribute to technical documentation and communicate design and implementation decisions clearly.</li> <li>Assist in the authorship of software documentation such as user training guides.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Who You Are:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Core Requirements <ul> <li>S. Citizen with a Top Secret SCI-eligible security clearance.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience</li> <li>5+ years of experience building modern web applications that are interactive, data-centric, and responsive across browsers and devices.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Front-End and User Experience <ul> <li>Strong experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS and at least one of: Flask, Django, Node, Vue.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to turn design direction, mockups, prototypes, or component libraries into production UI.</li> <li>Experience collaborating closely with designers, users, product owners, or other stakeholders to improve workflow and usability.</li> <li>Good judgment around interaction design, interface clarity, and user experience.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Back-End Integration <ul> <li>Experience designing and implementing services or back-end application layers and integrating front-end applications with APIs and supporting services.</li> <li>Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, containerized deployment, or cloud-hosted application environments.</li> <li>Experience building, integrating, or implementing AI-enabled interfaces or workflows for user-facing applications.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Delivery and Teaming <ul> <li>Be able to work across multiple programs and adapt to different users, domains, and problem spaces.</li> <li>Proficiency with Git and command-line development workflows.</li> <li>Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative t
