A major gas development in southern Iraq to recover currently flared associated gas from regional oil fields. The scope includes: • A gas gathering system: raw gas import pipelines from upstream compression stations, export pipelines for dry gas, LPG and condensate, and raw water import pipelines • A gas processing plant producing dry gas (C1–C2), LPG (C3–C4) and condensate (C5+) • Condensate storage and export facilities, including an offloading jetty Phase 1 covers a first processing train of 300 MMSCFD, with the plant designed for expansion to a second train of the same capacity. Mission • Ensure full HSE compliance across material management and preservation activities, in line with company standards, procedures and project rules • Provide day-to-day oversight and follow-up of material management and preservation activities performed at site by the EPC Contractor, against approved plans, procedures and schedules • Coordinate with the Procurement and Construction teams on planning, control and execution of material movements in line with construction priorities • Enforce compliance with project specifications, approved procedures and OEM recommendations for material handling, storage and preservation • Manage the handover of capital spares, operational spare parts and special tools, ensuring documentation, traceability and alignment between Operations, EPC Contractors and Vendors Material management oversight • Review and monitor the EPC Contractor’s Material Management Plan, procedures and workflows • Ensure materials are identified, tracked, stored, preserved and controlled from delivery to installation • Verify compliance with approved Material Take-Offs (MTOs), packing lists and delivery documentation Preservation management • Review, approve and oversee the Preservation Plan for static and rotating equipment, piping, electrical and instrumentation items • Ensure preservation complies with OEM requirements, project specifications and international standards • Monitor preservation status, logs, tagging and inspection records • Verify preservation is maintained during long-term storage, construction delays and pre-commissioning Inspection and compliance • Inspect site and warehouses to assess material condition and preservation status • Identify non-conformities, preservation lapses and storage deficiencies, and follow up corrective actions • Participate in audits, inspections and readiness reviews related to materials and preservation • Review damage reports, NCRs and claims related to material deterioration or mishandling Coordination and interface • Interface with the EPC Contractor, vendors, logistics, construction, commissioning and QA/QC • Align preservation requirements with installation schedules together with engineering and commissioning teams • Support material handover from warehouse to construction and from construction to commissioning Documentation and reporting • Review and validate material receiving reports, preservation records and turnover documentation • Track material status, preservation condition and outstanding actions • Prepare regular reports on material integrity, risks and compliance status Risk and asset protection • Identify risks of corrosion, contamination, mechanical damage and environmental exposure • Recommend mitigation measures to protect assets and reduce rework, replacement or delays • Ensure preservation responsibilities stay clearly defined during contractor scope changes or schedule extensions Qualifications and experience • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline • Minimum 10 years in material management and preservation on large EPC projects (oil & gas, petrochemical or power) • Strong knowledge of OEM preservation requirements, storage best practices and logistics • Familiarity with international standards for preservation and corrosion control • Strong field presence and inspection capability Skills and competencies • Attention to detail and an asset-protection mindset • Strong coordination and communication skills • Ability to review technical procedures and challenge contractor practices • Proficiency in reporting, documentation and material tracking systems
