Description of Work Reporting to and working closely with the Correctional Captain III, this position provides supervision for subordinate staff regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Minimum/Medium/Close custody state correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Providing supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. - Conducting investigations and performing searches of persons, places, and objects. - Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty roster, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. - Performing security inspections of the facility and grounds, monitoring posts to ascertain that officers are alert, that discipline is being maintained, and that assignments are carried out properly. - Performing rescue functions to include CPR, basic first aid, physically removing people from dangerous areas, and using fire-fighting equipment to include fire hoses, extinguishers, and breathing apparatuses. - Identifying training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff. - Accounting for persons and funds and ensuring that all equipment is operationally ready for use.
